1,1,2,2-Tetraphenyldisilane is an organosilicon compound used as a reagent in analytical chemistry. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells in vitro and to reduce the expression of survivin, a protein that inhibits apoptosis. This agent also inhibits the growth of several types of virus and hyperproliferative diseases. 1,1,2,2-Tetraphenyldisilane has been shown to be effective in preventing the development of inflammatory diseases by modulating translation and inhibiting mRNA synthesis. It is also hypothesized that this agent can be used to treat leukocyte antigen deficiencies.
