Descrizione

Trimeprazine is a drug that belongs to the group of pharmacological agents. It is used as an antipsychotic and antiemetic drug, which can be administered orally or intramuscularly. Trimeprazine has been shown to have a slow-release effect, which may be due to its particle size. This drug has a number of possible interactions with other drugs, including pediatric patients. Trimeprazine binds to human serum albumin and decreases the rate of absorption of potassium dichromate in vitro. Trimeprazine also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α and IL-8. The pharmacological treatment for tricyclic antidepressants is also effective for trimeprazine, as it blocks serotonin reuptake by blocking the serotonin transporter (SERT) on neurons and glial cells in rats.
