3-Perylenylboronic acid pinacol ester (3BP) is an organic compound that absorbs light and emits fluorescence. 3BP has a quantum yield of 0.9, which means that it can produce nine photons per electron transferred to the molecule. This molecule is also used in photovoltaic devices, such as solar cells or photodiodes. 3BP is soluble in hydrocarbon solvents and is a good candidate for use in organic electronics because of its ability to emit light when excited by an external source.
