1,3,3-Trimethylindolinobenzopyrylospiran is an inorganic acid. It can be synthesized from 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde and a protonation with an activated hydrogen. The compound is a photochromic compound that changes color when exposed to sunlight or ultraviolet light. This reaction is reversible, which means it returns to its original color when the light source is removed. 1,3,3-Trimethylindolinobenzopyrylospiran has been shown to be active on gravimetric analysis using hydrochloric acid and iodomethane.
