Trimethylnonylammonium Bromide is a catalyst that can be used for the production of amines. It reacts with ammonia and organic solvents to produce the desired product. Trimethylnonylammonium Bromide reacts with an amine substrate in a reaction system containing potassium ions and phospholipid membranes to form an organic salt. The rate of this enzymatic reaction is increased by adding a solid catalyst. Reaction rates are also increased when an organic solvent is used as the reaction medium, which allows for reactions at lower temperatures. The quaternary ammonium salt is able to stabilize the reaction system and increase the rate of the enzymatic reaction by acting as a buffer for hydrogen ions in the system. This process occurs in hypobromous acid, which facilitates proton transfer from reactants to products, thereby increasing their concentration.
