Descrizione

2,3,5-Tribromo-4-methylthiophene is a vitamin B2 analog that has been shown to have uptake and affinity properties. It is not only active against mycobacteria but also against other bacteria such as lactococci. The development of 2,3,5-Tribromo-4-methylthiophene has been enhanced by the use of diphosphate as a transport molecule and pyrrole as an analog to increase its hydrophobicity. This compound has been shown to be scalable in synthesis and could be used as an antibiotic or vitamin B2 substitute.
