Descrizione

2-Thiopheneacrylic acid (2-TAA) is a potential use in the treatment of herpes simplex virus. It has been shown to inhibit viral replication by absorbing UV radiation, which alters the nucleotide sequence of the virus's DNA. 2-TAA is also soluble in water and an effective electron donor, which may enhance its antiviral activity. The enantiomeric form of 2-TAA has shown greater potency against herpes simplex virus than the mesomorphic form. 2-TAA was synthesized from malonic acid and hydrogen chloride gas in a reaction with an excess of thiopheneacrylic acid, which produced 2-thiopheneacrylic acid as a kinetic product. This reaction was found to produce a blood sample with a negative result for HIV 1 and HIV 2 antibodies.
