- Tetrafluorosuccinic anhydride
Tetrafluorosuccinic anhydride is a trifluorinated compound that belongs to the group of perfluorinated compounds. It is a monomer unit used in the production of fluoropolymers. Tetrafluorosuccinic anhydride has been shown to be effective as a polymerization initiator, cross-linking agent, and chelate ring. Tetrafluorosuccinic anhydride can also be used as a radiation absorber and has been shown to have a protective effect on cells against the effects of radiation. Tetrafluorosuccinic anhydride has been shown to react with chlorine atoms to form trifluoromethyl groups, which are very reactive in organic synthesis.
