7-Trifluoromethyl-4-quinolinethiol is a fluorescent probe that interacts with acceptors, such as lipoproteins and cholesteryl esters. It has been shown to interact with aminoglycosides and apolipoproteins, which are both involved in the efflux of drugs from cells. 7-Trifluoromethyl-4-quinolinethiol has also been shown to inhibit ATP binding cassette transporters (ABC transporters) at high concentrations. 7-Trifluoromethyl-4-quinolinethiol is a photophysical probe that emits light upon interaction with thiazole orange and light.
