2,3,4,5-Tetrafluoro-6-hydroxybenzoic acid is an antibacterial agent that belongs to the group of hydroxybenzoic acids. It has been shown to be effective against Staphylococcus aureus and other bacteria. 2,3,4,5-Tetrafluoro-6-hydroxybenzoic acid is a strong oxidizing agent that can decompose at high temperatures. It also reacts with sodium hydroxide or hydroxide solution to form peroxide and condensation products such as dioxane and tetrahydrofuran. The skeleton of 2,3,4,5-tetrafluoro-6-hydroxybenzoic acid consists of a carbonyl group (C=O) and a chloride (Cl). This compound also contains magnesium ions which are stabilizers for the molecule. Hydrochloric acid is used in the synthesis of this compound.
