2-(Trifluoromethyl)thiophenol is an oxime derivative which is synthetically prepared. It has anticancer activity and has been shown to be effective against human lung cancer cells in vitro. 2-(Trifluoromethyl)thiophenol stabilizes the DNA-protein complex and inhibits the interaction of the protein with a number of substrates, including DNA, RNA, and other proteins. This compound also interacts with the C-H bonds on carbon atoms in the substrate. The quantum theory has been used to calculate that this compound interacts via steric interactions. It is a dithiolate which has been shown to have constant reactivity regardless of substrate concentration or pH.
