Undecanal is a fatty acid that belongs to the class of compounds called esters. It has an odorant binding property and is used in detergent compositions. Undecanal has been shown to be a potent inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylhexanoic acid, which is involved in the growth of carcinoma cells.
