This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus pyogenes and P. aeruginosa in vitro. 2-Isopropyl-1-methoxy-4-methylbenzene also inhibits the growth of E. coli in vitro. The antimicrobial activity of this compound may be due to its ability to inhibit bacterial DNA synthesis by binding to the DNA gyrase enzyme.
