4,4-Dimethyl-1,2-oxazolidin-3-one is an organic solvent that is used in the treatment of triticum aestivum and capsicum annuum. It can be synthesized from hydrogen chloride and 1,2-diaminoethane. 4,4-Dimethyl-1,2-oxazolidin-3-one has been shown to have a high level of efficacy against weeds in bioassays. The compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of weeds by inhibiting cell division and chlorophyll synthesis. This compound binds to the active site of the enzyme acetolactate synthase and inhibits its function.
