2-Methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is an organic solvent that can be used as an initiator for polymerization reactions. 2-Methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine is also used in the industrial production of polychloroprene, which is a type of synthetic rubber. 2-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)pyridine reacts with benzotriazole to produce a radical intermediate, which then reacts with succinimide to form the desired product.
