28-Hydroxy-3-oxoolean-12-en-29-oic acid is a molecule that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in cell culture. The inhibition of malignant tumour growth is due to the ability of this molecule to bind to and alter the structure of certain proteins, inhibiting their activity. 28-Hydoxy-3-oxoolean-12-en-29-oic acid has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on automotive exhaust particulates, which may be due to its ability to bind with these particles and alter their structure. This molecule is structurally similar to bgc823, a strain of bacteria that causes disease in mice. The similarities between these two molecules suggest that they share a common mechanism for inhibiting cell growth. 28HOOE has also been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in cell culture by binding with certain proteins and altering their structure, thus inhibiting their function.
