Ethyl 3,4-dichloro-2-fluorobenzoate is a potent anti-cancer compound that has been shown to be effective in vitro against the growth of Candida glabrata. It inhibits the production of anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10 by maternal blood cells and suppresses solid tumor growth in mice. The mechanism of action is not yet fully understood, but it may be due to its antioxidant or protein synthesis inhibiting properties. Ethyl 3,4-dichloro-2-fluorobenzoate is water soluble and can be dissolved in ethanol. It has been shown to produce an antitumor response in vivo with a dose dependent effect at concentrations between 0.1 and 1 mM. The optimum concentration for ethyl 3,4-dichloro-2-fluorobenzoate has not yet been determined.
