3-Bromo-6-nitroquinoline is an analog of quinoline that has been shown to inhibit the growth of various microorganisms. It has a broad spectrum of activity and can be used in the treatment of opportunistic infections. 3-Bromo-6-nitroquinoline is selective for fungi, but not bacteria or mammalian cells, and has high affinity for amphotericin B. This agent has been shown to inhibit dopamine synthesis in 5-HT6 receptor cells and can be used as an antifungal agent.
