2-Naphthyl p-Toluenesulfonate (2NPT) is a diarylamine that has been used as a synthetic intermediate in the bifunctional synthesis of aminocarbonylating agents. 2NPT is an unsymmetrical diarylamine, and it can be carbonylated to give the corresponding carbonyl compound. The mesylates and tosylates of 2NPT are also reactive intermediates in organic synthesis.
2NPT can react with an aryl halide or an alkyl halide to form a new carbon-carbon bond. It can also react with Grignard reagents, for example, to form an organometallic intermediate that can be used for subsequent reactions.
