2-Isopropenyltoluene is a solvent that is used in the production of polymers and coatings. It is an aliphatic hydrocarbon that has a high resistance to oxidation and polymerization reactions. 2-Isopropenyltoluene can be stabilized with BHT, which provides protection against light, heat, and oxygen. 2-Isopropenyltoluene reacts with magnesium oxide to produce magnesium salt and phenylmagnesium bromide.
