2-Aminoethyl methacrylate (2-AME) is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of monomers. It has been shown to have an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) response similar to that of mitochondria and can be used as a sensitive probe for mitochondrial membrane potential. 2-AME has also been shown to increase the detection sensitivity in a cell lysis assay by inducing cell death, which can be used for biochemical studies. The phase transition temperature of 2-AME has been found to be dependent on its concentration and the pH of the solution. 2-AME was not toxic at concentrations up to 500 mg/L and it had no effect on liver cells after long-term exposure.
