2,2'-Bithiophene-5,5'-dicarboxaldehyde (BTDA) is a chemical that has been shown to be an effective disinfectant. It is used in the form of a powder and can be applied to surfaces such as floors, walls, and furniture. BTDA has been shown to be effective against a wide range of organisms including bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa. BTDA is also used in solar cells because it absorbs light in the UV region of the spectrum. The use of BTDA as a sensor for hydrogen peroxide was first proposed by Kuczkowski et al.
