2-Chloro-3-(2-chlorophenyl)-1-(3-nitrophenyl)prop-2-en-1-one is a chalcone derivative that crystallizes in the triclinic system with space group P. The molecule has two geometric isomers, which are distinguished by the relative orientation of the chloro and nitro groups. These two isomers can be described by their planar parameters: the distance between the nitro and the oxygen atom, and the dihedral angle between the nitro group and one of the adjacent phenyl rings. The compound has hydrogen bonding interactions with both hydroxyl groups on either side of it. The interplanar distance for this molecule is 3.633 Å, but this distance varies depending on whether it is in its alpha or beta form (3.836 Å).
