4,4,5,5,5-Pentafluoro-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)pentane-1,3-dione is a synthesized compound that is used in the preparation of organic fluorophores. It has spectral properties similar to those of fluorescein and can be used as an ancillary for the detection of europium ions. 4,4,5,5,5-Pentafluoro-1-(4-methoxyphenyl)pentane-1,3-dione is also used as a ligand in photophysical studies. This compound absorbs light at wavelengths longer than 300 nm and transfers the energy to a chloroform solution or other reactant.
