3,3-Dimethyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2-butanone is a nitrate that has been shown to be an active substance in the treatment of tuberculosis. This product has been used as a bioassay to determine the efficacy of antituberculous drugs. 3,3-Dimethyl-1-(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-2-butanone was found to be effective against Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium avium complex. This compound is also used as a starting material for the synthesis of other compounds. The impurities detected in this product include hexane and chloride. The single crystal x ray diffraction method was used to study the structure of this compound.
