Pyrazolo[3,2-b][1,3]oxazines are a class of heterocyclic compounds that consist of a five-membered ring containing two nitrogen atoms and an oxygen atom. Pyrazolo[3,2-b][1,3]oxazine derivatives are used as antidepressants and antipsychotics. They have been shown to inhibit the activity of imidazopyridine isozymes in the brain and may be useful for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Pyrazolopyrimidines also inhibit phosphodiesterases (PDE) and can be used to treat asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The nitrogen atoms in pyrazolo[3,2-b][1,3]oxazines can form alkylthio groups with sulfur containing drugs such as sulfamethoxazole or methylthiouracil to form stable compounds. These compounds can be used in the treatment of pulmonary diseases like inflammation or pneumonia.
