3-Methyl-4-(methylthio)benzaldehyde is a neutralization product of benzal chloride and sodium hydroxide. It is soluble in water and has a boiling point of 190 degrees Celsius. 3-Methyl-4-(methylthio)benzaldehyde has been shown to react with amines (e.g., ammonia, methylamine, ethylamine, etc.) to form acetals and acetals.
