The plant Dioscorea zingiberensis is used in traditional medicine to treat diabetes. This plant has been shown to have an effect on carbohydrate metabolism and glucose levels. The aim of this study was to identify the active compounds in Dioscorea zingiberensis using a chemometric profiling technique, FOCUS, which uses partial least squares (PLS) regression modeling. The validation of this technique was done by comparing the results with those obtained through other techniques, such as high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).
