N,N-Dimethylthiophene-3-carboxamide (DMT) is a mesomeric compound that can be reduced to form the corresponding dioxime. DMT has been found to be an efficient acceptor for the reduction of aryl nitro compounds, such as itic-4f. The following voltammetry data was obtained from an acetonitrile solution of DMT in aqueous buffer. The oxidation potentials were recorded at +0.2 V and -1.2 V vs Ag/AgCl reference electrode in 1 M HClO 4 . A gel permeation chromatography analysis of DMT showed that it has a molecular weight of 212 g/mol and a melting point of 107°C.
