(R)-Benzyl (4-Chloro-3-oxo-1-(phenylthio)butan-2-yl)carbamate is a carbamate insecticide. It has been shown to be an inhibitor of the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, which leads to toxicity in insects. This compound is structurally related to other insecticides such as carbamates and organophosphates. (R)-Benzyl (4-Chloro-3-oxo-1-(phenylthio)butan-2-yl)carbamate has also been found to be an effective treatment for inflammation and pain in rats, although it may inhibit the production of white blood cells.
