It is an acrylonitrile and amide reactive functional group with a residue at the C5 position. 5-[(1,1-Dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy]-2-methyl-3-[(benzoate)]pentynol has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of coumarin derivatives. The compound is synthesized by reacting 2-methylbutanal with benzoic acid in the presence of trimethylsilyl chloride.
