1-Benzyl-4-methylpiperidin-3-ol is a specific inhibitor of tyrosine kinases. It has been shown to inhibit the enzyme activity of the TGFβ receptor, which is responsible for cell proliferation and differentiation, by binding to the active site and blocking the transfer of phosphate groups from ATP to tyrosine. 1-Benzyl-4-methylpiperidin-3-ol has been synthesized as an enantiomerically pure substance and it can be used as a lead compound for further development of drugs with similar pharmacological properties.
