Europium sulfate is an inorganic compound that has the formula EuSO4. It is a rare-earth metal sulfate, with the chemical symbol of Eu. Europium sulfate octahydrate (EuSO4·8H2O) is a water soluble compound that can be used as a ligand for certain metals, such as germanium and rhenium. The average particle size of europium sulfate octahydrate ranges from 3 to 4 micrometers. Europium sulfate octahydrate has been shown to have photophysical properties, which include luminescence and optical absorption. It also exhibits gadolinium emission lines at 656 nm and 764 nm when irradiated with ultraviolet light.
