2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltriethoxysilane is an antibacterial agent with ruthenium complex that is encapsulated and stabilized. It has been shown to be effective against a variety of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltriethoxysilane has been shown to inhibit the growth of metastatic cancer cells in a dose-dependent manner by binding to DNA and inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase II. This inhibition results in the formation of free radicals, which induce damage to the tumor cell's DNA and stop its progression. 2-(3,4-epoxycyclohexyl)ethyltriethoxysilane also has chemotherapeutic effects for cancer cells by inducing apoptosis (cell death).
