Copper perchlorate hexahydrate is an inorganic compound that belongs to the group of ligands. It is a yellow crystalline solid that is soluble in water. The physiological activities of copper perchlorate hexahydrate are not well known. Copper perchlorate hexahydrate has been shown to bind with a number of metal ions, such as Cu(II), Fe(III), and Mn(II). Copper perchlorate hexahydrate has been used for the asymmetric synthesis of a number of organic compounds, including 2-phenyl-5-nitropyridine and 2-pyridinone. The copper complex has also been shown to have radiation protective properties against radiation induced DNA damage in human serum cells.
