3-Chloro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine is an antimicrobial agent that belongs to the class of heterocycles. It has a chemical structure that contains a benzene ring and a pyridine ring. 3-Chloro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine can be used in the treatment of cancer, including breast cancer cells, as well as other types of cancer. This drug inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes and disrupting their function. The substance also binds to DNA and RNA, inhibiting transcription and translation respectively and stopping cell division. 3-Chloro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyrazine was shown to inhibit the growth of breast cancer cells in vitro at concentrations of 0.2mM or higher with an IC50 value of 5.5 μM.
