Monoarachidin is a fatty acid that is derived from 2-arachidonoylglycerol. It has been shown to have receptor activity for the CB2 receptor, which is found in the immune system. Monoarachidin has also been shown to have hemolytic activity and inhibit tumor growth in mice. The acyl chain of monoarachidin can be analyzed using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. This compound can also be used as a sample preparation agent for microcapsules and as a model system for analytical chemistry. Monoarachidin is present in bacteria and has been shown to have an effect on bacterial strains, such as E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella enterica, Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterobacter aerogenes.
