2-Propenoic acid is a high purity, research tool that is an activator and ligand for the receptor. It is used in Cell Biology as an antibody to study protein interactions, and as a pharmacological agent in peptides. 2-Propenoic acid has been shown to inhibit ion channels, which may be due to its ability to block the binding of ions to specific sites on the channel protein. This product has also been shown to be a potent inhibitor of the enzyme phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), which is involved in signal transduction pathways that regulate cellular proliferation and differentiation.
