Tert-Butyl N-{2-[(2-aminoethyl)disulfanyl]ethyl}carbamate (TBEC) is a small molecule that has shown stability in complexation with human serum proteins. It has been used to treat infectious diseases, such as HIV and malaria, by enhancing the uptake of the drug. TBEC is also able to bind to DNA and RNA, specifically targeting mirnas. TBEC has been shown to have anti-cancer properties in vitro and in vivo for ovarian carcinoma.
