Benzyl 7-oxo-2,6-diazaspiro-[4.5]decane-2-carboxylate is a potent inhibitor of protein interactions and an activator of ligand binding. It is used as a research tool in the study of receptor and ion channel function. Benzyl 7-oxo-2,6-diazaspiro-[4.5]decane-2-carboxylate has been shown to inhibit the activity of various proteins by binding to their active sites, including peptidases and proteases such as cathepsin D, elastase, collagenase, and trypsin. This compound also binds to the extracellular domains of cell surface receptors such as erythropoietin receptor (EpoR) and growth hormone receptor (GHR).
