4-(Benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol is a fluorescent compound that absorbs light at a wavelength of 370 nanometers and emits light at a wavelength of 440 nanometers. The fluorescence is directional in nature and can be used as an antenna for data transfer. 4-(Benzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol has been shown to be useful in devices that are sensitive to hydrogen peroxide, such as biological sensors. These compounds have also been shown to be useful in the detection of nitroaromatic compounds and other explosives.
