2-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-oxazol-4-yl]-methanol is a bicyclic heterocyclic compound that is structurally related to the heterocyclic compound, 2-aminopyridine. It inhibits fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs) and has been shown to induce apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting DNA synthesis. This compound also inhibits the production of bcr/abl, which is a protein that plays an important role in the development of chronic myelogenous leukemia. 2-(4-Nitro-phenyl)-oxazol-4-yl]-methanol has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of human breast cancer cells and tumor xenografts in mice.
