- 2,3,4-TRICHLOROPHENYL ACETATE
2,3,4-Trichlorophenol acetate is a synthetic chemical that has been used as an antibiotic and antiviral. It was first synthesized in the 1930s and has also been used as a medicine to treat certain parasitic infections. 2,3,4-Trichlorophenol acetate is a white solid with a molecular weight of 192.1 g/mol and is soluble in water. It may be purified by recrystallization or distillation under reduced pressure. 2,3,4-Trichlorophenol acetate has been shown to have antiparasitic activity against nematodes such as Ascaris lumbricoides and Trichuris trichiura. It also inhibits the growth of bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates.
