(R)-2,2′-Dibromo-1,1′-binaphthalene is a ligand that is synthesized by the reaction of phosphorus oxychloride and chloride. It has been shown to be efficient for the asymmetric synthesis of (R)-1,1′-binaphthyl. This ligand has also been used as a reagent in organic synthesis for the formation of Grignard reagents and benzene derivatives. The optical purity of this compound was expressed as 99% ee.
