Quinoline is a heterocyclic organic compound that contains a benzene ring with two adjacent nitrogen atoms. The 3-position of the benzene ring is substituted with either a hydroxyl group or a carboxylic acid group. Quinoline-3-carboxylic acid is an antitumor agent and is used for the treatment of cancers, such as leukemia and lymphomas. 2-Bromoquinolin-3-ol is an analog of quinoline-3-carboxylic acid and may have similar properties to this drug. It has been shown to be active against human tumor cells in mice and rats, but its mechanism of action remains unclear.
