2,2-Dimethyl-N-(6-methylpyridin-2-yl)propanamide is a thiourea compound that is used as a fluorescence sensor. It has been shown to have excellent chemosensor properties and can be used for sensing chloroform. The amide group of this compound binds to acids such as acetic acid, formic acid, and propionic acid. This sensor has been used in the detection of these acids in water samples. The macrocyclic structure of this compound confers it with the ability to bind to aromatic compounds such as triphenylamine, which makes it useful for sensors that detect fluorescence.
