1-Methyl-4-(thiophene-2-carboxamido)-1H-imidazole-2-carboxylic acid is a pyrazole derivative that has been used as a fluorescent probe for studying the nature of cations in organic solvents. It is also an important chemical intermediate for the synthesis of other compounds, such as pharmaceuticals and herbicides. The compound has been shown to be nucleophilic and reactive towards electron rich substrates. This can be seen by its alkylation properties with electron rich alkanes, leading to the formation of products with high luminescence properties. 1MMTICC can be synthesized using several methods, including x-ray crystallography or trifluoride chemistry.
