Tandospirone citrate is a sodium carbonate salt of tandospirone, which is a 5-HT1A receptor partial agonist. Tandospirone citrate has been shown to be effective in the treatment of symptoms of depression, especially when used in combination therapy with other drugs. The drug also has been shown to have a beneficial effect on anxiety and panic disorder. Tandospirone citrate may be used to treat alcohol dependence and insomnia. It is not known whether tandospirone citrate interacts with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
