N-[2-Oxo-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyran-3-yl]benzamide is a white crystalline solid that is soluble in water and ethanol. It can be produced by the reaction of hydroxylamine, sodium hydroxide, and 6-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyran-3-one. The product of this reaction is an oxime that can be converted to N-[2-oxo-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyran-3-yl]benzamide by acidification with hydrochloric acid.
