2-(Methoxymethyl)benzene-1,4-diamine is a chemical compound that has been shown to have both diagnostic and cosmetic properties. It is used in the treatment of acne vulgaris because of its ability to inhibit the growth of P. acnes. 2-(Methoxymethyl)benzene-1,4-diamine inhibits hydrogen peroxide production in Thp-1 cells and reduces the expression of HO-1 mRNA. The molecular structure of 2-(methoxymethyl)benzene-1,4-diamine consists of an aminophenol substituent on a benzene ring with two methoxy groups attached to the benzene ring at opposite sides. These methoxy groups can be either methyl or ethyl groups, which are called methoxymethyl groups. The introduction of these substituents affects the activity and toxicity of this chemical.
